Families can be stressful at the best of times, especially if you spend a lot of time at home working. And, while it can feel like an onslaught on occasion we have to remember that one of the biggest parenting challenges we will ever face is the mighty kids party! Getting one of these ready can be one of the most stressful things, but never fear, let’s help you get the big day ready!
Don’t Do It At Home!
Hiring a venue can seem like a logistical nightmare, but it’s a huge weight off your shoulders, especially if you plan way in advance. Perhaps you don’t have adequate transport to get things to the venue, but you can very easily hire a ute for a day to transport everything you need. Also, hire a venue that is used to these things. You can usually hire a church hall or a room in a leisure centre, and a lot of the facilities will be there, such as soft play. But if you decide to do it at home, be ready with the trash bags!
Get Dietary Requirements In Advance
One of the major nightmares any parent can have at a modern party is if a child has an allergic reaction to something. Make sure, when you send out the invitations (at the very least two months in advance) that you encourage the parents to contact you with any dietary requirements for the child. You will be putting on a variety of food and you want every child to enjoy themselves and not have one child feel left out because they couldn’t eat anything. And make sure that the food is handheld, making it a bit easier for everyone to eat, minimising mess; and make sure that the food is ready when the party starts. If you’re having food delivered, make sure that it gets there are before the party starts, so people won’t go hungry.
Have Disposable Plates And Cups
While this isn’t environmentally friendly, if you can purchase biodegradable papers and cups, this will be fine as well. But when you are serving food on disposable plates and cups, it will be easier to clean up. You need to have plenty of trash bags available so the clean up can be a swift operation.
Cater To The Audience
Your child likes certain music and themes; stick to this rigidly! The same goes with the activities. They don’t have to be incredibly fancy, but it’s worth providing a wide variety of things..Soft play and ball pools are perfect, but for the older kids, there is going to be more grown-up activities, like video games. Cater to your audience, and this means that you need to be up to date with what your child wants. Very simply, just ask them what they want!
And don’t forget, keep calm! It’s a very stressful thing getting a kids party-ready, and trying to please everyone, but if you can prepare as much as humanly possible, this is going to make life a lot easier. A massive party can be a major event, which is why we can swear off never having another one again! But by the time next year rolls around, you’ll have learnt a little bit more!
