How do you make yourself better? It’s a hard question to ask yourself, but if you’re reading this the likelihood is that you already know what needs to be done on some level, and that you’re not happy with yourself for some reason. The key to remember here is that everyone is different, what you might be seeking might be different to the needs of someone else. However, sometimes, people don’t know what it is. There might be something wrong in your life. Something you can’t quite put your finger on. This is where trying different betterment options can really help you out. A lot of people are looking towards betterment at the moment and a lot of it stems from the current world situation. With coronavirus, people are at home. When people are stuck home with nothing to do, be it because they’re self isolating or their country or area is on lockdown, they start to think and thinking leads to realisation, in which case the need to change comes along. These ideas and tips can get you started. Just remember, what works for some won’t for others, and if you know what’s wrong, you know what to zone in on. All advice needs to be applied in a bespoke manner because your life, like everyone else’s, is mainly unique.
General Health Always Comes First
Before everything else, you need to think of your health. If you aren’t feeling well, you need to address it. You can’t become a better you if you’re being dragged down by neglecting your health and this, of course, applies to a lot of different areas of your body and mind. For example, if you’ve lost your glasses, visit Eyeglasses.com. If you’re having trouble with your teeth, visit a dentist and get it sorted. Once you’ve addressed health concerns you can look to get on with your life. Look to make things better but you can’t do that if you can’t see properly or if you’re in agony over tooth ache. The same for mental health. There’s been a hugely popular and positive push regarding mental health over the last few years. For so many people, the results of covid have left them with suffering mental health. This can be as a direct result of the virus itself, for example like if someone has gotten down over the fact they can’t see their family and friends for a long period of time. It might have nothing to do with covid, and the sad fact is that there are other negative factors impacting your mental health. It can be hard to be self right when you’re struggling with mental health issues. These can range in type and severity. Issues like depression and anxiety aren’t always easy to cure, but the point is that you should focus on these before anything else. Doing this, in itself, is an act of betterment and will improve your life, but also the lives of those around you. The one constant is this…if you find you’re getting overwhelmed, you need to speak to a doctor. Especially if you’ve tried everything else. Health always comes first!
This isn’t just about vanity. It goes beyond that simplistic view. Sure, some people do it because of the way they’re perceived. But others do it because it helps them feel good. If you feel good about yourself, you’ll project a better you day in day out. This works in a few different ways. Primarily, you want to target weight loss…if you consider yourself to be overweight. You’ll know if you are. Shedding some weight is great because not only does it make you feel better in yourself, it’s also far better for your own health too, of course. There are many ways to lose weight. Dieting is one of the most popular, as is exercise. The best way is to combine the two. However, each body is different and may need a different stimulus to really burn through the weight you want to lose. You can, if you really want to do it quickly, hire a personal trainer although it may not be possible due to covid depending on restrictions. You might not even have access to a gym, so you’ll have to prioritise cardio over weight training. Either way, you’re still working on your personal image and giving yourself a superior health boost at the same time. The key here is to stay healthy. Try not to use performance drugs or diet fad drugs because they can end up hurting you in the long run. Also, you need to lose weight at a healthy rate, don’t overdo it. When you’re happy with how you look, you’ll feel a whole lot better.
Drink More Water
You’ve probably heard this one hundreds of times but it’s all for good reason. Water is energy. It gives nothing but energy at a consistent rate. If you drink energy drinks like Red Bull you should simply swap them out for water. Try to increase the amount you drink and this will depend on your size. If you struggle, get a bottle and make sure you finish it each day. Drinking water has some great health benefits. As well as increased energy levels, you’ll help your body flush out the bacteria in your system meaning you’ll be healthier. You’ll hydrate yourself, ensuring you have longer levels of concentration when needed. It’s great for your skin too. If you’ve ever had a skin issue you’ll know that you’ve been told to drink more water. It can help if you’ve got anything like eczema or psoriasis. Getting into the habit can be hard at first, but once you’ve got used to it it’s easy. You can even add a bit of fruit to add some flavour to the water, there are special bottles for this and they can just give you the bump you need to get started as a lot of people struggle with the flavournessness of water. Setting yourself targets is a great way to get used to drinking more water. Be that target by a certain time in the day, or instead a target of drinking so much in the day itself.
Cut Back On The Hazardous Habits
Starting a new habit which benefits your health is great, but so is quitting one that damages it. There are a lot out there, such as overeating. But one of the main negatives is in smoking. Even with the huge amount of negative publicity, the amount of damage done to the body and the hugely prohibitive price points it still remains popular. If you smoke, stop. Easier said than done, but still doable with help. This might come in the form of nicotine patches, tablets, or by weaning yourself off slowly. Some can crack going cold turkey, others will move onto vaping or some less harmful substances (which are still harmful and will in themselves need kicking). Whatever the case, try your best to better yourself by not smoking. You’ll have more money for a start, your body will be in better shape and you’ll feel better all around. The same for alcohol. People forget it’s a drug and drunk too much can cause all kinds of severe problems. Start by drinking less. Easy as that. Try to get it down so that you’re only drinking once a week and even then a small amount. Once more the change is in a healthier you. There’s a lot of calories in wine and beer. Cut that out completely and you’ll not only be saving some money but losing some weight too.
Reassess Your Career
Everyone gets bored of their career. It just happens. Even the most exciting careers can become a little boring when you’re doing the same thing day in and out. This is why you should always seek out new responsibilities and opportunities. You have to be proactive in the attainment of your wants and needs. It’s not always easy, and sometimes after reassessing your life and what’s currently important to you, you might have decided to jump to a new career altogether. The truth is you can’t make a change unless you speak to your boss and see what’s on the table. Once you’ve spoken to them you’ll then be able to find out what you can do to either change things up or move for a promotion. Ensure it’s a proper, professional conversation and go from there. In certain situations you won’t need this. You might just want out and to see what else is out there. This can be the case even if you went to university simply to study for the job you have now. The past doesn’t matter. Do what feels right for you now. On the other side, this might mean studying to get a job you really want, and you may need to think about how you’re going to fit all of this in with your usual job etc.
